Traveling west from Campbell River through the forests and lakes of northern Strathcona Provincial Park, you’ll eventually find the friendly and outgoing town of Gold River. Located on the Muchalat Inlet on the Island’s west coast, Gold River boasts a history rich in fishing, forestry and mining, and has recently become a destination for serious cavers and sports fishermen. Kayakers, scuba divers and hikers have also discovered the superb recreational offerings, as well as the numerous tours and charters that are available. Catch a ride on the MV Uchuck III to cruise historic Nootka Sound, the birthplace of British Columbia, where in 1778 Captain James Cook first set foot on the West Coast. The stunning scenery and rich First Nations history will delight all. This community offers all amenities including accommodations, restaurants, shops, and even a nine-hole golf course.
