Unpack your walking shoes and prepare for an adventure--there’s a whole other world to experience just 20 minutes north of Victoria.

Journey to the Saanich Peninsula and you’ll experience the quiet pleasures of country life. Here you’ll find beaches for beachcombing, marinas for boating, ponds and wetlands for bird watching, countless meandering countryside lanes, trails to hike and horses to ride, weathered churches and welcoming inns, fresh farm produce and lots of old-fashioned hospitality.

The peninsula is comprised of three communities: the Districts of Central and North Saanich, and the Town of Sidney. It is in Central Saanich that you’ll find Butchart Gardens, Butterfly World, the Historical Artifacts Society, the Log Cabin Museum, Island View Beach, Centennial Park, and Gowlland Tod Park. North Saanich is home to the Sandown Park Raceway, Blue Heron Park, Victoria International Airport, and the BC Ferries terminal at Swartz Bay.

The charming seaside town of Sidney is about 35 minutes north of Victoria. Sidney offers her visitors long walks along the ocean, breathtaking views, and some surprisingly good shopping – especially if you like bookshops. This quaint town also sports several marinas and some great restaurants and galleries. Sidney attractions include the Sidney Marine Mammal Museum, Mineral World and Scratch Patch-–an outdoor adventureland of gemstones, shells, goldpanning and fossil digging-–and the BC Aviation Museum.
