When visitors say Victoria is “a little bit of old England” what they’re really describing is its suburb, Oak Bay. Located just a few minutes east of Victoria, Oak Bay Village consists of quaint streets lined with flowers and twee shops. Here the pace slows right down. You could, with little or no difficulty, spend your whole afternoon here sipping high tea, snacking at the Italian bakery, downing Guinness at the pub, or peeking at the new titles at the local bookstore. Once you’ve left the village proper, go down to the sea. In Oak Bay you can do it all – feed a seal, go whale watching, fish for salmon, charter a boat, and bury your toes in the pure white sand of a secluded beach.
