Follow the Trans Canada (Hwy #1) to the Port Alberni exit (Hwy #4). Turn right at the junction. The Cafe and Gardens are located on the right side - watch for the entrance sign. From Victoria, driving time is about five-and-a-half hours. Description: Picture starting a casual afternoon meal with botanical garden greens drizzled with balsamic and wildflower honey vinaigrette and then sprinkled with fried goat’s cheese. Imagine your entrée is pan seared wild Pacific salmon in a delicate lemon cream sauce. Expect luscious Tiramisu and rich gourmet coffee for dessert. And if that isn’t enough, envision this wonderfully extravagant meal made with fresh local ingredients and served in a cookstove-warmed bistro beside 12 acres of themed gardens and temperate coastal rainforest. You need fantasize no further; Café Pamplona at Tofino Botanical Gardens in Tofino prepares wonderful lunches, dinners, coffees and teas with a progressive eclectic style and serves them all with a "seasonal convincing simplicity." Chefs Richard Moore and Matthias Conradi use local organically grown produce when available, as well as goods from the orchard, berry patch, and herb and vegetable gardens beside the Café. These attentively prepared meals are suitably enhanced by the folk-inspired art pieces displayed both inside the Café and outside on the covered patio, creating a comfortable and soothing atmosphere in which to dine. Visitors are encouraged to embark on an exploration of the Botanical Gardens either before or after dining at the Café. The expanse of forest, shoreline, and pocket gardens celebrates the relationships between culture and nature, especially those that are inherent in this area of Clayoquot Sound. The Gardens offer an interesting and educational experience for visitors and locals alike. There is a separate admission for entrance to the Gardens, which are open from 9 am to dusk every day. In the charming and friendly West Coast town of Tofino, there is scarcely anything more unique and fulfilling than spending an afternoon on a leisurely walk through Tofino Botanical Gardens followed by a first-class meal created by the culinary masters at Café Pamplona.
