Review

Nautical Nellies, located by Victoria’s Inner Harbor, is known for the consistently high quality of its food, the wide variety of dishes to choose from, and its friendly atmosphere. On entering, the nautical theme is immediately obvious but not overwhelming: a few model swordfish hanging from the ceiling, a couple of big aquariums with large brown fish (piranhas?) swimming about, and various other maritime touches. Fun, but not overdone.

However, the focus is on the food. Nellies is best known for seafood, but whatever their preferences, customers are almost certain to find something on the menu that seems just right. The lunch menu includes sandwiches -- some straightforward -- others with a West Coast twist (the Pacific Halibut clubhouse, for instance), as well as burgers and pizza. The steak offerings include steak with Alaska King Crab and lobster tail, though there are non-seafood varieties available as well. In the pasta department, Neptune’s Special features tender scallops, prawns, and other shellfish in tomato bacon cream sauce. The inexpensive lunch specials include the crepe platter (crepes stuffed with chicken and mushrooms in Dijon sauce) with soup and salad. All dishes are large and filling. The presentation is non-fussy but pleasing.

The dinner menu includes more spectacular dishes such as pan-seared salmon and blueberry halibut. Dungeness crab, Nova Scotia lobster, Thai seafood hot pot and the classic fish and chips are featured on the specialties menu. And yes, there is an ample dessert menu as well. Prices vary, but there is something to suit every budget.

Given Victoria’s location on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, in waters teeming with seafood, Nautical Nellies seems like a most appropriate choice for visitors. They will not be disappointed with Nellies’ quality and selection.

My husband and I were looking for a nice seafood restaurant. The concierge of our hotel recommended the Nautical Nellie's.
When we arrived, the hostess brought us to our table and after that we had time to look the menu over 15 minutes without anyone coming to take our order!! Of course we left the place, because, obviously, nobody wanted to serve us. I let the manager know about this inconvenience, and we didn t even receive an apologie. Even thought the menu doesn t look attractive and also the personn who where sitting next to us got a steak over enormous onion rings to cover it!If you want to eat healthy seafood or steak I do not recommend this place!
