Review

Adrienne’s Tea Garden is a charming little restaurant situated on Cordova Bay Road in the Mattick’s Farm complex. From the moment you walk inside and see all the antiques and the Old World charm you’ll feel right at home. If you just want a quick cup of coffee, there’re little tables set up in the front. Here you’ll find pastries, breads, coffees, jams, and candies that you can purchase and take home with you to enjoy.

The atmosphere and the exceptional service is what brings patrons to this restaurant. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. Most of the dishes served use locally grown produce and many of the baked goods are made locally too. The prices are very reasonable and the food excellent. Adrienne’s Tea Garden offers the best scones in the city -- you can enjoy one over tea or take some home to enjoy later. The portions aren’t overwhelming -- just the right size -- and always delicious. They make a wonderful trifle that’s enjoyed by many visitors.

When you first walk into the restaurant, you’ll notice that all the tables are oak pedestal tables and none of the chairs match. The tables are set with woven placemats and there are no disposable cream or sugar containers on the tables. All cream and sugars are served in pottery containers. When you order tea, your teapot will arrive dressed in a hand crafted tea cozy -- no two are the same. The walls are lined with artwork painted by local artists, most of which is for sale. The tops of the walls are lined with antiques and collectibles and bring back many memories of childhood.

You have the option of sitting in the restaurant or outside on the patio overlooking the little gardens between the shops. Reservations are recommended and all major credit and bank cards are accepted. If you don’t make a reservation, the wait is minimal, usually about 20 minutes, which you can spend looking through the many shops at Mattick’s Farm. Enjoy your visit and remember that the sun always shines on the Saanich Peninsula.
