If you've been searching for a West Coast paradise, you need look no further than the Sooke Harbour House. Nestled near the entrance to Sooke Harbour on the Juan de Fuca Strait, this charming Shangri-La overlooks the stunning Olympic Mountains and is only an hour's drive from Victoria. It is a peaceful and comfortable seaside escape, decorated with local Native and folk art pieces and furnishings, and is an internationally acclaimed country inn that tourists and nature-lovers visit from all over the world.

The owners, Frederique and Sinclair Philip, have designed each room with a personal and elegant touch, offering such amenities as fresh flowers, pillow-soft bathrobes, local and exotic fruits, coffees, and specialty teas. Directions

Located 23 miles west of Victoria. Follow Highway 1to Exit 10 (Hwy. 14). Follow Hwy. 14 to Sooke. Turn left onto Whiffen Spit Road (1 mile past Sooke’s only traffic light). Proceed to the beach and turn right.

There are many fine restaurants that also prepare gourmet menus that rival, and to be honest, outdo, this particular restaurant--and they do not subject the customers to such blatantly expensive overcharging either. If going to Vancouver Island, make reservations for the Aerie Resort rather than Sooke Harbour House--better menu, better accomodations, and, offering superior value for the price.
