Review

Famous as the longest stretch of surf-swept sand on Vancouver Island's west coast, this spectacular beach attracts surfers & vacationers from all over the world. Long Beach features sandy beaches, pounding surf, rock outcroppings and driftwood and enjoys the stormy weather of the Pacific Coast.

As the population on the west coast of North America increases there a reduction in the number of beaches you can access -- however Long Beach rivals Santa Cruz, CA; Ocean Shores, WA, or Cannon Beach, OR. However, Long Beach has a secluded feel (a feeling of Alaskan independence), since the nearest towns have populations in the thousands, and the largest city is hours away.

In the sunny summer days you can see surfers, sunbathers, boogie boarders, and beach volleyball enthusiasts enjoying the beach. Stormy fall and winter weather attracts beachcombers and weather enthusiasts.

Surf guards are on duty during July & August, but you must be cautious in the cold, powerful surf. Also, respect the fragile beach environment. Leave only footprints and take only photographs.
