Follow Belleville Street past the Parliament Buildings on your left. Continue along Belleville to Montreal Street. Turn right on Montreal for the Laurel Point Inn. Description: The Laurel Point Inn, one of Victoria's most highly regarded hotels, enjoys one of the finest locations in town. Laurel Point sits between Victoria's Inner Harbour and Outer Harbour. The hotel is on the edge of a quiet residential area, but at the same time, it is close to many of Victoria's finest attractions and shopping areas. The path around Laurel Point is a popular spot for walks among hotel guests, other visitors, and locals. The north wing of the hotel, built in 1979, houses the 135 standard rooms on four floors, although the spectacular waterfront views from every room in the hotel make these rooms far from "standard." Each of the agreeably furnished rooms has its own balcony, as well as amenities such as coffee and tea, hairdryers, and 20-inch TVs. For artwork, many of the rooms feature large reproductions of turn-of-the-century photographs of Victoria scenes. The hotel's 65 luxury suites are located on the six floors of the south wing (added in 1989), which has an Asian theme. A Japanese-style ceramic horse in the hallway is especially striking. The suites all feature unique touches such as Japanese kimonos laid out on the beds, and marble washrooms with televisions and telephones. In the lavish penthouse suites (one 1-level and one 2-level), which are also suitable for small-scale receptions and meetings, guests enjoy wrap-around views of the harbor, as well as washrooms with double Jacuzzis. The Laurel Point Inn is a popular choice for conventions and other functions, with 10,000 square feet of meeting room, which can be divided up in a variety of ways. On the same level, the Cook's Landing Lounge provides lunch and dinner in a nautical setting, while the Café Laurel offers international cuisine for breakfast and dinner. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Cook's Landing Lounge doubles as an entertainment area and piano lounge. In season, guests can enjoy their meals on an outdoor patio. An indoor pool and Jacuzzi complete the experience. It's hard to go wrong with the Laurel Point Inn's great location and attention to detail. Written By: Clarissa Aykroyd Map In This Category
