Description:
A mainstay of Victoria bed and breakfasts, Abigail’s is best known for its Victorian style and fantastic breakfasts. Located downtown near the public library and a handful of cozy pubs, Abigail’s is a charming getaway you might never want to leave. The Tudor architecture immediately takes you away to Victoria’s yesteryear as you climb through the classic English garden to the front steps of Abigail’s. Only a couple of blocks away from the centre of downtown, Abigail’s is located on a quiet street, with neighbours that include the Victoria Conservatory of Music.

All of Abigail’s 22 rooms are uniquely decorated and many have fireplaces and Jacuzzi baths. The style is characteristically Victorian, with a pleasantly modern West Coast streak. All the rooms are bright, attractive and comfortable. Similarly, the common lounge and breakfast room are extremely welcoming.

The real nitty-gritty of Abigail’s is the food. Everybody loves it. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room, freshly prepared by an open-air chef, or even better -- in bed. Breakfast favourites include eggs with smoked salmon and the special house granola. In the evening hors d’oevres are served in the library and receive equally high praise from guests.

A special feature of Abigail’s is their e-concierge service. For confirmed guests, the hotel will take your reservations for a variety of Victoria restaurants and attractions. It’s an excellent service. Their recommendations are thoughtful and go beyond the ordinary tourist fare.

The best part of this story is that Abigail’s is priced very reasonably. While not for the budget traveller, the price for a unique, personalised service rivals most hotels in the downtown area. There is no reason to stay at a chain hotel, if there’s a room at Abigail’s.
