Central Vancouver Island has some of the most beautiful waterfronts in Canada. As such it is a boater’s delight and the perfect place for beachcombing, castle building and, of course, swimming. There are also opportunities for year-round golf, hiking, biking, kayaking, and spelunking.
Ladysmith is a historic mining town on the east side of Vancouver Island. With historical buildings just off Highway 1, and a beautiful harbor featuring three marinas, Ladysmith is a pleasent stop on the way north.
Chemainus' roots are in logging, however it has transformed itself into a tourism town with 33 outdoor murals depicting the town's history. This outdoor art exhibit draws travelers from Highway 1 for a quick stop and a bite to eat.
